Be Heard Project:
Community Perspectives on Mental Health and Well-being in King County
In 2024, King County Department of Community and Health Services (DCHS) sponsored a project called Be Heard in which the county collaborated with 14 different agencies across the region to explore communities’ perspectives on mental health and well-being. The goals of the project were to: 1) gain understanding of how communities in King County define mental health and wellbeing; 2) amplify voices of diverse and marginalized communities to improve community driven behavioral health services; and 3) disseminate information and use findings as evidence for supporting funding allocations. In this session, we will share the findings of this project, King County’s responses, and ways in which communities can continue to elevate mental health concerns.
