This presentation draws on national survey data and in-depth interviews with resettled refugees in King County, Washington, to examine the barriers that keep refugees stuck in low-wage, precarious work, and the conditions under which programs like job training, ESL instruction, and government assistance actually help or hinder refugees' access to better employment.

Dr. Fani will reflect on his recent experience of directing the Middle East Center at the Jackson School for International Studies at the University of Washington, a position from which he was fired after a sharp criticism of Israeli government policy and its influence behind the US/Israel's most recent military actions in Iran.
